Every Wednesday, 5:30-6:00 pm
Teen Mentoring for aspiring writers is offered for ages 14 to high school graduate.
Please contact facilitator Sally Walker at 402-593-1080 to sign up. This is a free program.
Each weekly three-part program consists of:
- A brief review of your work-in-progress with mark-ups of pages and discussion of progression toward individualized goals
- A brief review of fundamental writing concepts needed by individual writers
- An appropriate and brief presentation of the same material to be presented during the Fiction portion of NWW that evening.
Does it work?
One previous participant completed a screenplay his senior year before going on to major in journalism in college. Another published her first short story in a literary magazine and completed the first novel of a trilogy. A third did an independent study of "Novel Perspectives" and completed the assignments of that course for AP credit through her high school. Two previous attendees used their screenplay studies to be admitted to the prestigious NYU's Tisch Film School. Several teens joined our workshop as adult members after starting college.
If you are enthusiastic about learning the craft, we would love to hear from you. Poets, dramatists and fiction writers are challenged according to their interests and capabilities.
